Breton Wedding Vows
Breton (offical name Brezhoneg) was brought from Great Britain to the northwest coast of the European mainland by migrating Britons during the Early Middle Ages.
But it didn't replace the French language. The monarchy favoured French, as did the government after the Revolution. And since the 19th century the the government has made efforts to eliminate minority languages in an effort to build a national culture. In the middle of the 20th century there were over million Bretton speakers, but the numbers dropped to around by the 20th century.
So if you're looking for wedding vows that shy away from "official vows", then Breton is worth looking at. It is the only Celtic language still widely in use on the European mainland.
