Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen (1775-1817).
Henry Dashwood's elder and more mature daughter, who falls in love with Edward Ferrars. She struggles with the sense of this relationship, since he is close (non-blood) relative.
The second daughter of Henry Dashwood, three years younger tham Elinor, yet at 16 old enough to fall madly in love with Mr Willoughby. She is also sufficiently sweet for Colonel Brandon, who is old enough to be her father, to be attracted to her. She must increase her sensibility by learning from the maturity of her sister how to deal with these men.
Edward is the elder of Fanny Dashwood's two brothers, and becomes the sweetheart of Elinor Dashwood.
The somewhat debonaire suitor of Marianne Dashwood.
