Ancient Pagan and Modern Christian Symbolism
by Thomas Inman, M.D. (1874)
Pagan and Christian symbolism

Figs. 158-159

Figure 158 appears only in the second edition but there is no associated narrative. Figure 159 does not appear in the second edition, although there is narrative. We are not sure what the author intended to include or omit.

Generally, however, there are far fewer printing errors in this 19th century book than many modern publications!

Figure 159 represents the various forms symbolic of Juno, Isis, Parvati, Ishtar, Mary, or woman, or the virgin.
