Notched Cross
The Notched Cross is a heraldic cross of any shape or form that has one or more cuts at the end of each arm.
Notched Cross cuts may be V-shaped, square, rounded or dove-tailed. The examples shown above are notched pattée crosses.
If the notches are along the arm edges, the design would be referred to as an Indented Cross, an Engrailed Cross, a Crenel Cross, or a Dovetail Cross, each of which has its own meaning.
