The first book of Psalms, song 29, New English Translation
Psalm 29
A psalm of David. 1 Acknowledge the L
ORD, you heavenly beings, acknowledge the L
ORD's majesty and power!
2 Acknowledge the majesty of the L
ORD's reputation! Worship the L
ORD in holy attire!
3 The L
ORD's shout is heard over the water; the majestic God thunders, the L
ORD appears over the surging water.
4 The L
ORD's shout is powerful, the L
ORD's shout is majestic.
5 The L
ORD's shout breaks the cedars, the L
ORD shatters the cedars of Lebanon.
6 He makes Lebanon skip like a calf and Sirion like a young ox.
7 The L
ORD's shout strikes with flaming fire.
8 The L
ORD's shout shakes the wilderness, the L
ORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.
9 The L
ORD's shout bends the large trees and strips the leaves from the forests. Everyone in his temple says, "Majestic!"
10 The L
ORD sits enthroned over the engulfing waters, the L
ORD sits enthroned as the eternal king.
11 The L
ORD gives his people strength; the L
ORD grants his people security.
