The fifth book of Psalms, song 130, New English Translation and King James Version
New English TranslationA song of ascents. 1 From the deep water I cry out to you, O LORD. 2 O LORD, listen to me! Pay attention to my plea for mercy! 3 If you, O LORD, were to keep track of sins, O LORD, who could stand before you? 4 But you are willing to forgive, so that you might be honored. 5 I rely on the LORD, I rely on him with my whole being; I wait for his assuring word. 6 I yearn for the LORD, more than watchmen do for the morning, yes, more than watchmen do for the morning. 7 O Israel, hope in the LORD, for the LORD exhibits loyal love, and is more than willing to deliver. 8 He will deliver Israel from all the consequences of their sins. |
King James VersionA Song of degrees. 1 Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O LORD. 2 Lord, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications. 3 If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? 4 But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared. 5 I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope. 6 My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning. 7 Let Israel hope in the LORD: for with the LORD there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption. 8 And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities. |
