The fifth book of Psalms, song 123, New English Translation and King James Version
New English TranslationA song of ascents. 1 I look up toward you, the one enthroned in heaven. 2 Look, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a female servant look to the hand of her mistress, so my eyes will look to the LORD, our God, until he shows us favor. 3 Show us favor, O LORD, show us favor! For we have had our fill of humiliation, and then some. 4 We have had our fill of the taunts of the self-assured, of the contempt of the proud. |
King James VersionA Song of degrees. 1 Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens. 2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God, until that he have mercy upon us. 3 Have mercy upon us, O LORD, have mercy upon us: for we are exceedingly filled with contempt. 4 Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud. |
