For Social Justice

From the Book of Divine Worship - The Proper: Third Part - Various Occasions.

Collect

I. Almighty God, who hast created us in thine own image: Grant us grace fearlessly to contend against evil and to make no peace with oppression; and, that we may reverently use our freedom, help us to employ it in the maintenance of justice in our communities and among the nations, to the glory of thy holy Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

II. Almighty God, who created us in your own image: Grant us grace fearlessly to contend against evil and to make no peace with oppression; and, that we may reverently use our freedom, help us to employ it in the maintenance of justice in our communities and among the nations, to the glory of your holy Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Prayer over the Gifts

God our Father, by the sacrifice of Christ you freed your Church from sin and made it holy. May we, who are one with Christ, the head of the Church, be one with his offering; may we be united in serving you with all our hearts. Grant this in the name of Jesus the Lord. Amen.

For persecuted Christians:

Lord, accept the prayers and gifts we offer. May those who suffer persecution because of their faithful service to you rejoice in uniting their sacrifice to that of Christ your Son, and realize that their names are written in heaven among your chosen people. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

For refugees and exiles:

Lord, your Son gave his life to gather your scattered children into one family. May this sacrifice unite the hearts of all men in peace, and help us to grow in brotherly love. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

For those unjustly deprived of liberty:

Lord, we offer you the sacrament which saves the human race. May it release those unjustly deprived of liberty, and give them freedom of mind and heart for ever. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
