Intercession (Form II)

From the Book of Divine Worship - The Proper: First Part - The Holy Eucharist - Rite One - The Prayers of the People

The Deacon or other minister says:

Let us offer our prayers to Almighty God.

The Leader and People pray responsively; the People kneeling.
Father, we pray for thy holy Catholic Church;
That we all may be one.

Grant that every member of the Church may truly and humbly serve thee;
That thy Name may be glorified by all people.

We pray for our Holy Father, Pope  , for our Bishop,  , and for all bishops, priests, and deacons;
That they may be faithful ministers of thy Word and Sacraments.

We pray for all who govern and hold authority in the nations of the world;
That they may work for thy peace on earth.

Give us grace to do thy will in all that we undertake;
That our works may find favor in thy sight.

Have compassion on [  and on] those who suffer from any grief or trouble;
That they may be delivered from their distress.

Give to [  and to] all the departed eternal rest;
And let light perpetual shine upon them.

We praise thee for the Blessed Virgin Mary, [for Saint  ] and for all thy saints who have entered into joy;
May we also come to share in thy heavenly kingdom.

The Celebrant concludes with this Collect, or one of these Collects:

Almighty God, to whom our needs are known before we pray: Help us to ask only those things that are in accordance with thy Will; and those good things which we dare not, or in our blindness cannot ask, grant us for the sake of thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Mass continues with the Penitential Rite.
